The Kossabone Red
from last.fm: The Kossabone Red were an Atlanta, Georgia band that existed from 1996 to 1998. Sonically, The Kossabone Red were a good mixture of Cap’n Jazz-inspired emo and catchy spastic hardcore. Members went on or have been in bands such bands as Portrait, Some Soviet Station, The Paper Lions, Electrosleep International, and Airoes.
Their only album was a Self-Titled CD/LP put out by Conspiracy Records. This LP is the only record left in print by the band. They also released two 7”, one on Ripcord (1997) and one on Insurance scam (1996).
Definitely lots of cap'n jazz sound here, tons of energy and sloppy instrumentation. I'd recommend starting with the LP, it is my personal favorite, and the 7"s have a different sound to them.

I have a cassette or two as well... somewhere
ReplyDeleteI have the 3 releases. The Ripchord Ignition/Atrophy 7" looks fucking rad. Im not too sure if that was released in 1997 since they used be be called Ripchord then switched to The Kossabone Red. I believe that was there first release sometime in '95
